Is this a wise idea? I have maxcats for training and DeMOlishers for competition; but I remembered that someone mentioned something about training in maxcats being a bad idea.
I have the maxcats because I hear it’s a flexible sprint spike with a flexible spike plate. The heel of the spike is cushioned with is good for longer distances in training.
I’d only want to use the Maxcats for training (long reps) and a few 200m sprints while using the Adidas DeMOlishers for 100m and relays.
My Maxcats are still new and not used yet, but would this be a wise idea keeping them for training?
I would just like to add that the Maxcats are a REALLY minimalist, light shoe with virtually no padding or support. They’re often used by 400m runners.
They are great if you like the ‘bare feet’ feel, but the padding you refer to in the heel is incredibly small compared to, say, a long distance spike, so be careful with major mileage. Good shoe.
I wear the Maxcats and i really like them. They are extremely light and very flexible. I see no problem with training in them. Isnt the DeMOlisher quite a heavy spike? Shosilva-IMO i would use the same types of sprinting spike for competition that you use to train in. After all, thats the shoe that your feet have become accustomed to. (Hope this info helps).
The only problem i have with the Maxcats is the size of the spikes that came with them, which is 7mm pyramids. This size spike seems a little large for the track that i train on but 7mm is all i’ve ever used. Im about to order some 5mm needle replacement spikes to put in my Maxcats. Has anyone been able to tell much of a difference between 7mm spikes and 5mm spikes, or between pyramid spikes and needle spikes?
