massage liniment (capsicum product)

We had a athletic therapist a few years back with our university team who had a bottle of muscle rub/liniment in his training bag that got severely hot when massaged into the muscle belly…it was legal, and got one of my pole vaulters through to win the competition, since his calf started to cramp to the point of not putting any weight on it. A couple of minutes of massage with this liniment and it was like he had a new calf…pretty awesome. Only thing is I can’t remember the product. I do believe it was some sort of horse liniment and it contained capsicum (active ingredient in peppers I believe). Anyway, anyone having any experience with a similar product, please pass on what you’ve found, thanks.

it’s called equiblock and can be purchased at elitefts.com

i have just recently started using this and have had great results with it

if you like your linaments hot you could also try Cramer’s atomic balm, this one is petroleum based and stays on for hours, so if you sweat alot you may want to try this one, just google it

Where does Equi-Block and similar products fit in a regeneration plan? I am looking for thoughts here.

My Equi-Block is on the way (should have it by Wednesday) and I am interested in checking it out. Is the pain relief part the only good thing, or does it actually loosen up the tissue significantly? The smell… bad/good/not noticeable?

I put it under the “if it feels good do it” category of regeneration. equiblock gets hot, helps the warm up process

i also use it on my elbows/low back the night before a training session if they are feeling trashed

you have to rub it in for aqhile for it to get hot, massage it in til it starts to dry up

hope that helps,
Nate

I got it yesterday and used it on my calves in the evening then on my hamstrings before sleep. One of the worst nights of sleep ever lol. I was out probably at 10:45 or so and woke up not once, but twice (12:10 then 12:45) with my legs ON FIRE. This stuff gets SO SO hot for some reason after you go to sleep or are in a laying position. On just joints, it does not feel too hot (if at all), but still works well. Great stuff. Highly recommended.
