Based on the CFTS, is this how in-season speed work is performed?
Mon: Speed (full volume & intensity)
Tues: Tempo (full)
Wed: Speed (full volume & intensity)
Thurs: Tempo (full)
Fri: Off
Saturday: Race
Sunday: Race
Then, I’d assume for important races you’d follow a 5-7 day taper by dropping the vol and intensity of the runs?
Is it a good idea to race on sunday then do speed work on the monday?
my programme is:
Mon: Tempo 200
Tue: Blocks to 40m
Wed: Speed End (80-200)
Thu: Tempo
Fri: Speed (30-60m)
Sat: (Warm Up)
Sun: Race

Sessions during the week are usually at 95% to “save something” for racing.
Are you referring to regular racing on Sundays (e.g., typical meeting, etc?
Good, this was what I’m interested in. So are you saying that throughout the season, all of my training runs will be at 95% and below?
Nice point. I generally would include a tempo session the day after a race.
What sort of volumes and intensities do you have in your friday workout?
