so, the question is: what kind of rest can athlete use between special endurance runs
simply sitting, stretching, walking, jogging, self massage, meditation or may be anything else? what advantages can give you each of them, and how do you guys prefer to rest?
Definetly stretching and walking. If I just sit down and do nothing, I find that I get cold and my muscles get too cramped (not loose) and I feel way to stiff too run.
We never sit in between SE runs, sitting is terrible, if you want to sit do so with your legs up.
i take up to 20 mins rest inbetween my 300’s and so on. i walk around tlak ot people drink water and stretch. Time goes rather fast. If i am that deadddd i may lean againt something for a minute or 2.
Charlie in his book - I think forum review said something like this.
Sit down and shake legs for 3 minutes
Walk around
Put spikes on and do 2 or 3 runthroughs over 20 - 30m
And make way round to start
That is not exact but it sounds okay to me.
Pretty much a bit of passive and active recovery.
i also untie and lossen my spike… i feel it helps quite a bit.
Sitting with your legs up helps a great deal, the effect of the negative gravity not only aids in the removal of lactic but also helps to loosen up the muscles.
For longer breaks you can put your flats on and walk/jog for 3 to 4 min then sit down or lie down while shaking the legs and doing the occasional easy stretch. For preparation for the next run put on spikes and you might do a couple of very easy 20 to 30m build-ups (not at rep pace)
For shorter breaks, at least loosen the spikes to keep up lower limb circulation.
i’ve tried some of suggested methods last week.
taking spikes off and sitting with legs up works! thanks!
