I have a big problem. I use to be long jumper and after my knee surgery I gave up jumping and start moving on sprint. However, I donť have a condition for sprinting in my town so I must travel to the next town every week (on friday) where I can run at least 30’s.That training is done only 1 / week, other sessions are only in weightroom. So I lift weights 3x and accelerate 1x /week. In December I ran very great times over 30m (last year I ran 6,96 over 60m) even better then last year. During my competition season I dropped weights very aparently and the times are very terrible (7,03) I thought I would run my personal best. I feel like a fly… I must mention that beside com. I don’t run at all. Do you thing that dropping weights was too dramatical? Or Should I keep the same regiment in the weightroom like I used to?
I can foreshadow my session during December and during Jan.
December (all in kg)3x week+ 1x acc.:
Dambell press-5x20,5x30,4x35,5x40
Mil. press - 5x20,5x25,5x30
Deep squat-6x50,6x90,4x130,3x160
Row-3x8
Ham.curl-3x8
Biceps curl-3x8
Tric.ext.-3x8
Abd.
Tanx. I know that tempo is wery usefull… I know If I want to improve my times I’ll have to definetely do these things. However, the problem is somewhere else. Look I run very well when I do very heavy weights, nothing else, but when I drop them out in case I improve my times, opposite has happened.
Do you think that keeping weights almoste at 100% from MAX phase will keep my shape high? Do tempo work as well.
if you are not running except in competition, and all you do is lift then you stop lifting, of course you will run slower. first you were at least hitting the cns with weights. when you take that away and run basically once a week then you are doing even less work.
i figured the same, the opposite happens when you lift alot and do alot of sprints, then for most of the peopel i talked to you end up running faster even better then your current best.
