Wasn’t sure whether to put this here or in the nutrition forum…anyone have any experience with / comments on Horleys Replace Sports Drink?
I was thinking of using it during / post my speed sessions as I immediately go to my weights following them. Till now I have been having a homemade basic shake with milk, banana, PP and Malto… give it a go?
I dare someone to reply…
in fact I double dare you
I break it down as a choice between a number of things like:
-gatorade (low carb)
-hi g. drink (such as ultra fuel - 100g carb)
- protein/carb combo (cytofuse - or your shake)
-Protein drink (low carb)
Where do they all fit and why… thats the question.
In my mind the first 2 are for during and after events where dehydration is a factor.
The second 2 are for strictly post workout where recovery and rebuilding are vital or for added nutrition where long breaks between events (then I would go with cyto or your shake).
I assume Replace is similar to gatorade…and your shake similar to cyto.
by the way did you see gatorade website?.. lots of info.
Thanks for the input and I agree with your classifications and uses although I would put my home made shake more as High G.I.
FYI I don’t even know if Gatorade is available here  It was a few years ago but the dominant one is Powerade
i saw something about how power ade is different and inferior to gator ade, due to the type of sweetener… cant remember exactly why, but it convinced me.
did you check out the g-ade site?
I remeber something like that too, didn’t bother re G-ade as haven’t seen it here for at least 10 years.
What about a bit of BCAAs added to the sports drink? Maybe a bit of WPI if BCAAs isn’t available. Surge is a good one as long as you keep the solution under 10% for maximum absorption (one scoop per liter of H20). I made a mistake of chugging down Ultrafuel before practice one day and I can tell you that was the worst practice I’ve ever had! I didn’t know why it happened back then. Now I know why… Anyway, having Surge (or something similar) diluted to under 10% solution would help alot if you’re training for 2 hours or so.
well the reason I was directing your attention to it (g-ade web site) is because there are some very extensive articles re: just this kind of topic.
