Honest Opinion Please (What would you do?)

The interesting thing, which epitomizes irony by the way, is that the individuals that play the most significant role in the ‘hiring’ process often know next to nothing about the role in which physical preparation plays in attaining sporting excellence let alone the right questions to ask a potential coaching candidate.

If you watched the races Mr. 6.38 fell out of the blocks.

Mr. 6.41 well he didnt do so hot.

If by didn’t do so hot you mean he ran a personal best, then yes, you’re right. Fell out of blocks? I see… Big coincidence they are the only 2 people in the entire 55m to get obliterated so badly and not even run provisional qualifying marks.

Dude, why a question mark next to he fell. I mean ok Giants won the superbowl? Asafa ran 9.74?

Did you watch the race?

I am wondering what is considered a fall, a stumble, a slight misstep. I told Mort I didn’t want to hear bitching when he ran 6.6…

Well he did not face plant or fall onto his stomach.

Appx 2 steps out he was still too low, stumbled had to put his arms onto the ground as to not face plant. At that time the announcer said something along the lines of and that poor start will cost Tang any chance of making finals.

Was it .25 worth of fall I don’t know I am not going to say it was just to prove a point. I doubt there is any reasonable way to measure it. But it was certainly over .10.

So after I did my spring break workouts on my own, I came back and practice went really good. I beat everyone over the sprint events and the coach starts telling everyone that am gonna go 10.8, then after two hard days of speed work volume ranging from 1500 - 2000m per day I went back to old habits. I ran 11.5 at north Carolina, while my team mate went on to run 11.04. Am so pissed at the inconsistency and trying to find a solution. Am I burnt out due to too much volume in practice?

What were the workouts?

Winning some sprint drills doesnt mean you were in 10.8 shape.

during spring break I did accel wok and speed end of a total volume of 400 - 600m three days a week with lots of tempo inbetween. when I came back and started running with the team again we did a lot of bullets belts up to 80m, 120m, 250m and 300m.

during that much speed work at your ability is probably no better then what your coach was doing.

I don’t understand what your trying to say

Im trying to say ur spring break program wasnt any better then your head coach program - got tat.

why? was the volume too low?

vol was too high.

Sunday 3150
Monday - Tempo
Tuesday - 4

tuesday - 4* 120m
Wednesday - tempo
Thursday - 3*80m + accels
How is this too high of a volume?

too much sE

Maybe you would’ve if you ran Towson. I don’t see how you send your long jumpers but not your 100m guys…like long jumping in the cold is so much safer than running a 100:confused:
