Help with weight training emphasis

I am 29yr old male, 1.83m 85kg, bf 12%, 100 and 200m runner.

My question is should somebody of my build concentrate more on olympic lifting rather than traditional exercises such as squats, deads etc.

Mt reasoning is that using traditional lifting, even if I lift using a protocol of 2 x 5 reps, with heavy weights and at least 3min recoveries between sets I still gain weight easily.

I was thinking it could be a time under tension issue, and that using olympic lifts may reduce the time under tension.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Are you good at olympic lifting? If not then why not do clusters of squats or bench or deadlifts. Have a micro 20s break between reps?

What do you mean by clusters? Do you mean one rep, 20s rest, 1 rep 20s rest and so on until I reach 5 reps, for example?

Thanks

Yes and the cluster represents a set. Kind of like a speed endurance session! Perhap that removes this time under tension problem?

i gain weight very easily too, it depends more on your diet (not saying dont eat, but know there is an area of caloric intake that is going to make you gain weight), and you can use high tempo and work capacity circuits (bw exercises) to keep from gaining too much size as well.

thanks for the responses guys

i agree clusters would be very good and u would also develop some nice power with them also.

INCREase overall low int work.
