What exactly is so bad about scar tissue though? I have been working on my flexibility and i am now more flexible than i was before my injury. Does scar tissue just limit flexiblility?
You don’t get rid of the scar tissue, you mobilize it so that the movement and stretch characteristics are the same as the tissue above and below it.
Dear James,
Although cross friction is generally the best way to get rid of scar tissue you should keep your and everyone else's hands off your injured tendon for now. Massaging an acutely inflamed tendon will only aggravate the problem.
Regards,
Robin,
Dude, I don’t know what you have but when I had a “claquage” of the hamstring (that’s a French word, don’t know in English), I just used an eliptical trainer and I think I used a rowing machine but I’m not sure. Anyway, I did a little biking as well.
But, some people here are saying it could be serious. So, I’d be sure with the doctors before doing ANY exercise. Physiotherapists can give you ultrasound and a kind of electric current treatment. There are some here at the university gym. I’d check out a place like that if I were you. And I’d stretch lightly.
Is it ok when i am rehabilaitating a tendon injury or tendinitis, that it is just slightly tender or sore? Would you consider this as aggravating it or just part of rehab? I was doing alot of walking and it dosent hurt at all unless i stretch it. Even then there is not too much pain.
