I have had problems with my hamstring incertion since late november. There is no pain with tempo, plyos, or lifting, only sprinting. After doing a speed session i will hurt bad for atleast a week. There hasn’t been any loss of flexibility in the hamstring. My left leg has the same problem, it just isn’t as bad. Has anyone ever dealt with this problem? I need to find a way to get it under control so I can qualify.

i saw one of the top therapists around when i went to tampa. his work was great, but i have a hamstring imbalance i need to work on to prevent furture injuries. but for now i need to find a way to cut down on the swelling and pain.
Mj what do you do for hamstring exercises. My hamstring strains went away after I started performing reverse leg presses.
if i warm up for a long time and load on ibuprofen, i can tolerate the pain. it acts like a tendonitis, where the pain comes and goes. i can mentally block the pain for a meet, but the swelling impairs my running. the next day the pain is bad and makes it hard to bend my leg (bringing foot back to glutes).
i only squat and do dead lifts for the legs.
Clemson what is trameel? How about lidocaine patches by endo, prolotherapy (injections) or lazer therapy?
How many times a day do you ice it?
i ice my legs all the time. recieve ems daily, and was taking 2400 mg of ibuprofen for the last week. and still the swelling won’t go down. there is obviously an irritation in there.
I know im going to get blasted for this but why not try a cortisone injection. My friend 10.27 had achiles tendonitis recieved one shot and it never returned. Doesnt mj Michael jordan recieve them every two weeks. Even tiger woods gets them.
Not only that but after he recieved the cortisone the following year he ran a pr for 60ms. I think im going to get one for my knee.
Here is my advice get one (corisone) during the break between indoors and outdoors and do rehab program for your hamstring reverse leg presses and strengthen the tendon so it wont flame up anymore. It looks like you severly strained your hamstring. I could get my friend doc to look at your hamstring if you want.

i’m not going to blast you because a lot of people get them, including myself in the past. i have recieved them in my pubic symphosis (spelling). i’ll let you look on an anatomy chart to see where thats at.
it works well, but it also disguises the injury. i don’t want to hurt it worse, and i can’t get an injection in both knees. it would be a consideration for temperary relief, but what about long term. how do i prevent this. i believe i got it from running turns indoor. you need to remember jordan is at the end of his career. i’m hopefully at the beginning of mine. i don’t think that a shot is good for long term effects.
there is no hamstring pain in the belly of the hamstring, just at the incertion where it’s inflammed. and it usually doesn’t hurt until i try and sprint. no bruising or loss of flexibility. i do plan on rehabing after indoor. but i have to qualify indoor, i have a lot riding on this.
Jordan scored 40 plus points the other day and hes 40years old on jan 4 scored over 40 points too!!!. Hes im the prime of his career. Im going to risk it. I would rather run without pain then run with pain, whatever the long term effects are. Ben and Angella recieved them all the time.
I saw a game the other day and jordan went up for a rebound and it was the highest I think he has ever jumped. The annoucers were like Holy cow did you see that!!! Tiger had three of them then went on to win the us open mationals and masters.

i wasn’t talking about health long term effects, just the fact that it could lead to more ligament problems. your right about jordan. my point was that he plans on retiring, not that he can’t play anymore. he is at the end of his career, because he wants it to be.
