Hey guys I was wondering if anyone has any info on glute flexibility?
My glutes seem to be incredibly tight, my hip flexors along with my hamstrings are quite flexible. But I am strugling in developing my glute and lower back flexibility. It does not apear to be hindering me in my traning but since I am a skeleton athlete developing more flexibility in my glutes will make pushing the sled in such an awkward position easier. If anyone has any exercises/ stretches that would be awsome.
Why do you think your glutes are tight?

Bulgarian splitsquat ISO holds for a minute+ will fix the glute and hip flexor flexibility very quickly and easily
I do em after a training session, just 1min each leg does the trick
Legs feel wonderfully loose afterwards
Well this is my diagnosis and I could very well be wrong or missreading what is happening if so please correct me!
If i balance on lets say my right leg and try to touch my right leg with my left hand while keeping the right leg straight and allowing the left leg to come off the ground keeping it straight and going directly behind me at the bottom of the movment my left leg opens up and there is a slight tightness in my right glute if i try to keep my left leg from opening up. Now once again I could be making a mountain out of a mole hill but that and the fact that I went for a massage the other day and even the massage therapsit said that they were super tight that and the fact that I was in tottal aginy when he tried to get in there !
thanks for the links and info.
Looks like Defranco has had some influence from Anne Frederick. I have some of those straps for my massage table as well. They’re great for stabilizing yourself while stretching.
my glutes are very tight indeed and still I never thought of giving them the appropriate time to streach. I have faced no problems and I believe that its ok to go that way. But then I wanted to ask. What type of problems ( if any ) would one get for poor flexibility in the glutes specifically and other body parts generally??
Tightness in the glutes is often the cause of tight hamstrings. It will also reduce range of motion and rotation during the sprinting stride. Also remember that one of the key factors in movement speed is how quickly a muscle relaxes after it fires. If it’s tight, it can’t relax properly. And last but certainly not least, a tight muscle is a weak muscle.
