Getting faster at 25??

Damn - I’m impressed. What are the heights of those box jumps?

I noticed that your arm movement on the treadmill was significantly different at 25mph than 21mph. You made 21mph look pretty easy :). Good luck and keep the updates coming.

Inspirational video! how much of your running do you do on the treadmill then? The box jumps were impressive because you had such a small counter-movement!

Insipirational!! Very good speed!! And perfect technique!

Whats up with this overspeed treadmill running thing? U think it has a positive carryover ?

I am going to run the 60 this January at UK. And the 200 meter. I am on a treadmil about twice a week. Due to not having an indoor track that I cannot use. I think it does help just because you can control all the variables on a treadmil… exact speed, incline, tempurature, seconds ran ect. I only do over speed once every two weeks although I really don’t consider it overspeed because i can run it comfortably… so it’s like 95-98% It will consist of 3x4 second runs. I am not sure how well it will relate to track speed but what I do know is that I have done it 4 times and everytime it gets a ton easier. But when First did it I couldn’t hol dit for 3 seconds my form would break down and i would trail back on teh treadmil. I can hold it “after a workout” for nearly 12 seconds if I decided to now.
I have 4 different “speed workouts” that I can do at the facility. Altering the different treadmills, from force runs, to hill runs, to hill runs holding, to 8x40 meter starts, to sled pulls/ sled pushes,. I have been trying to never repeat the same workout within 3 weeks of each other as far as speed days so I never adapt to the new stimulis. They are also geared for 0-40 meter exceleration type training right now, later in the year I will lengthen it out some. If at all possible I try and do 1800-2200 meters of tempo outside on the grass… it has been hard in 30 degree/ rainy weather for the past 3 weeks but I have been doing other type cardio/ tempo training when I have to.

I think the last box jump was 62 inches… I have to jump forward 6 inches then land on the platform… not sure how high I can actually go. That was my first time really trying to get up there.

You are an exceptional athlete… I can sense the power on the track… amazing frontside mechanics (as a result of your power)… on those box jumps its seems as if ur half asleep, not trying at all. lol:D
Keep going my friend. You have huge potential.

Drob9…nice work, its looks like ur flying and glad to see that you have taken it upon yourself to see how far you can take your talent + hardwork, i look forward to following your progress from Australia…just a question, what/where is the facility you are using, it looks like there is lots of resources available to you. Is there a website for the facility?

The facility is a Local HIT center. It’s a franchised speed developing center. I train a few athletes a week in exchange for free use of the facility whenever I need it. It definatley helps to have it at my disposal

You ever thought about owning something like that. I have done so much research on cost per month, rent, heat, astro turt ect Its not as expensive as one might think. I would hate to be just another speed company though. I want to something truly different. Something not about money or hype. Starting with the name… “The guy from Boston’s speed Center.” It would have to be different. No franchises, I dont want the extra money, just one real elite training center respected around the world. Old school all the way. No buzz words, no hype, just real training. God I want to do it so bad I can taste it. I was looking at the extra innings franchise option, but I have to be realistic, besides playing jv baseball, what does the guy know about baseball. What would the guy do with an astro turf field and a couple batting cages. Anyways food for thought. Maybe you would be interested in getting something together. I’ll try and post more info about commercial real estate, what I have read and found, ect. Doesn’t help having millionare parents either.

Keep up the hard work man, I’m pullin for you. That video was great too, keep postin more training vids if you can!

Wow that Video was very inspiring. Looked great there;) .
I don’t know if you have already written your strength routine down, but I would like to see it;)

Looking good man, I wish you the best of luck over the course of the next few months.

As far as the treadmill work goes, I used one before I came to college and I feel that it did have a positive effect on my speed endurance. 25 mph is moving man! Back then I did 24 and I could only hold it for around 5 seconds. Can I ask what does your overall program look like for the next 6 months, that is, how are you structuring your approach?

I would also be interested to hear Charlie’s comments on the technique/execution of those runs. At your level, any place where you could pickup a few hundredths would be invaluable.

I am using Charlie’s short to long program. I am up to 40 meter sprints as of now in the season and won’t really hit 50’s until march probably. I am just doing 4 workouts a week. Monday Tempo, Tuesday speed, Wednesday off, Thursday Tempo, and Friday seppd. Typically my Tuesday speed workouts involve more speed loading. Hill’s, sled pulls and pushes at 20 meters, 6x20 out of blocks, and plyo’s. My fridays are pure speed… well as much pure speed as you can get only running 40’s as of now…

So I ran in Chicago this past weekend and ran a 6.27 55m… Never ran a 55m before. I have heard different conversions to the 60 but it has to depend on the individuals top end speed I would assume. I know my top end 10 meters is .81-.84. So I guess what I would do is take .84 and divide it by 2… for 5 meters then add the .42 to my 6.27 which equals 6.69-6.66. Which would be a real nice PR for me by nearly a tenth… for December and just training through the meet I think that I am ok with that as an opening time.

Excellent job. Can’t wait to see what you run in bigger comps at 60m. Do you plan to run 60m at USA Indoors if the opportunity is achieved?

I may be wrong but i would assume your 60m time is 6.7’s, 6.6’s would be more in the 6.12 range.

tamfb is a hater

if you think so.

Objectively for planning purposes (only because you are self coached and you probably have target times) with a 6.27 (55m) and 10.2x (100m) I would estimate top speed in the area of 0.88-0.91 (depending on many factors) and an approximate 60m time of low 6.7x.

Keep up the great work mate. Remember: the difference between dreams and achievement is measured only by desire!

you are a hater. just joking.
