Getting faster at 25??

I think they had 10.43… atleast thats what I was told a little bit ago

Celts just got Kevin Garnett! Should be an interesting season!

If the wait for the events was any indication we might actually see final results by 2008.

I agree. Oh well though I was happy that the weather held up.

I guess it’s time to take a few weeks off get in the lab and then start off season training

Results are up:

Oh well, at least they got the times right.

Well that stinks. I guess I didn’t run in the finals lol

Well I have been doing GPP for the first time in my career and I do really enjoy it. I train Monday Tempo on grass… Tuesday off… Wednesday active sport, flag football ect… Thursday Hills at HIT center using a high speed treadmill and friday Tempo again. I lift three days a week and do drills on the Tempo days.

I feel like I am in great shape and have gone from 215 to 208 in a short time. I did a rep max on bench and squat this today to get accurate workout percents and for some reason I was much stronger. I rep’ed 385 3 reps on bench and the same on squat… which is kinda funny. None the less I am still training myself but actually training this year I think I should be able to get into the 10.1’s and 20.60 type range

When does everyone else start their GPP?

dont worry about the bp and sq numbers there are other members on this forum that bp more then they sq. i started my gpp 4 weeks ago.

Ok so I have been in GPP for about 8 weeks now and I did a speed test today. Well the university track team this time of year always does a speed test not sure as to the rational behind it but it’s a fun day to see where you are at. It was about 65 degrees and we were on the track. The times were fully automatic… laser start and laser finish. You had a 20 meter exceleration into the first laser. My 10 meter rolling start times were .91 and .81. and my 30 meter rolling starts were 2.60 and 2.75. I know that these times were pretty fast but not sure how it corralilates to my 100. It is early in the year and I am only doing hills and 20-30 meter starts for my speed work so I know I will improve on these but how do these times compare to that of a 100?? Any one know a conversion?

Good to hear your GPP has gone well.

I was just reading a thread today that talked about 30m times and relating them to 100m times but I can’t remember where I found it. Concensus was that 3.8 times flying 30m time gives pretty good approx for 100m time. You can also look at split times for Ben, Mo, Asafa, etc. to see there “fly 30m” times or 10m splits or whatever and see where you fall. Speaking of which you .81 split is faster than any split I have ever seen so I don’t know how much I would trust it…

Yes I agree. That is why I was so shocked… but it is fully automatic and I did also run a 2.60 30 meter… that is .86 average over 30 meters… so If my average is .86 then my top end could be a .83 or so… I would think. .86 still isn’t bad though.

Oh this is another subject but I did a BOD POD body index test… which is teh most accurate way to calculate body fat index. I was 208.6 and my body fat % was 6.1%. This time three months ago I was sitting around 8.5%. The Tempo training has helped me a ton

If these times are true (and I’m not doubting them) then lookout next season.
Say 6.80(60m) + 2.60(30m) +.86=10.26
Get that 60m time down and it could be massive PR in the 100. Consider the 200m possibilities also.

IAAF control tables:

30m flying
2.60 = 10.33
2.75 = 10.64

so as a guess you are somewhere in there

That’s a weird projection. If I’m not mistaken Drob is using sensor gates. Ben did a 2.51 fly 30 in his 9.79 so I think 10.33 is extremely pessimistic based on that 2.60 performance. I know, I know, some may say Ben could’ve run 2.40 with a sub-max accel…yea yea.

USATF charts say 2.60=9.91(6.44 start).

Man I hope so. My best 60 is actually 6.78. I think I can if all works well and I stay healthy hit a 6.68 or so indoor this year. If that is the case then I could hit 10.1’s and that would be great! But it seldomly works as planned. We will see.

At the end of a Tempo day Monday I ran a pretty good 90% 200. My workout was 4x300 in 42 ish walk 300 recovery and 4x200 in 24-24 ish. My last 200 I was feeling froggy and put on the spikes to run it in closer to 90%. I ran a 21.1 hand timed by my workout partner… he crapped out on me after the second 200. I have never really done a consistant workout plan including Tempo training but it has helped me so much… I am in the best shape of my life… within two minutes after that last 200 I felt like I could have run another. I hope this season goes as well as practice is so far

This is a new training video a friend of mine put together. Tell me what ya’ll think

What an inspiration your video was. No doubt in my mind you will become the first white sprinter to run sub 10.

Buddy I sure hope so… I am just wanting to get to the US championships… If that’s what it takes then I would love to do it. I know I am for the first time training hard and smart. I bet this year 10.18 or so would make finals at U.S championships

Cool video. Are you running the dash indoors?
