I don’t know anything about the politics involved and would rather stay out of it. I’m just interested to comment on training issues and hope everyone else will stick to that topic on this forum.
It seems like Dallas had a great race out to about 60m then from there everything went to shit. I understand that he havent been during much speed endurance work but his top speed was looking good.
Mike Young is a first class guy and extremely knowledgeable. The program he runs is virtually the same as programs that have facilitated TONS of WORLD CLASS athletes and MEDAL WINNERS in various disciplines.
I remember that guy, he used to post on this forum quite a bit back in the old days (maybe he still does?). I wonder if he is still using the same training theories with DROB (if he actually is coaching him), anybody know? I remember Dan was a big ‘ground contact guy’, similar to our friend Bear. I wonder what his training program looks like now.
Hey guys. I ran pretty poor yesterday. My back went out. Tweaked something at about 50 meters. My lower left side of my back is killing me. I transistioned well through 50 meters and was in first right with the leader and as soon as I was upright my back went out. I then lost three places and obviously fell to pieces. I hope it is just a slight pull but it’s hard to tell as of now. I got out extremely well for the first time. My starts are much improved. My block 30 over the past 5 weeks has gotten .2 better. Based on that I should be able to coast a 10.1x. Oh well it wasn’t my time… not my day. I am going to ice up the next few days and get out and jog some. See how I feel. It always feels worse the day after.
Man it looks like I ran a bad time and everyone started blaming other people. It was my fault. I ran bad and I got hurt. I am still with HPC. Don’t plan on leaving HPC and Mike Young is a good coach. We still talk about every other day. I had turf toe real bad the entire indoor season. We had to scratch almost all tempo work and almost all weights for a period of time to allow everything to heal. I have been in Texas training so I can get into some warm weather and allow for further healing. So no we haven’t been doing the plan that Mike and I came up with to a T… we had to alter do to injury. The doctor said once my foot gets better theres a chance my hip will go… based on how I have been running before it just wouldn’t be used to the new work load… and well he was right.
The guy I have been staying with is a great guy and he trains his Kids using the WGF system. I have spoked to the WGF guys and they seem real nice and offered some advice to help maintain strength while recovering and also looked at my starts. I haven’t signed to a new organization… my word is my word and I signed with HPC for the season and regardless of all else my name is all I have and I will honor whatever contract I sign unless I am wronged which in this case I wasn’t. So to summerize I am with HPC. I think the WGF guys are great. I have nothing bad to say about anyone… but I am with HPC and Mike Young. I am heading back to KY this week. The weather seems to be getting nicer and I miss my dog… lol.
Thanks a lot and I look forward to telling you guys my back is better and that I ran a 10.20 here in the next couple weeks.
Let us know about speed work volumes over the last week prior to the meet if you can. i want to know how many runs were done (assumedly every other day) leading up to the meet. My suspicion is you were overloaded but we need the info. Injuries can come when muscles are tight from a high workload. A Volume that was ok when you were slower will not be ok now.
I was at the race, and Dallas looked great for 45 to 50 meters. He actually beat everyone to 30 meters. At 50 meters, it looked like he pulled a hamstring and he ran one legged for the rest of the race…surprised he even finished the race. 10.48 isn’t bad for only running 50 meters and limping the other 50. So in retrospect, he probably should have pulled up lame. If his hip pulled out of place, it makes sense he couldn’t contract his glute.
There seems to be an influx of people trying to justify a new approach that has not been responsible for any of drobs competitive results so far.
The first order of business is to arrive in one piece, ready to go. Going over the top in the final race prep is a guarantee of problems when you get in the mix with this level of competition. Running till you loose 2% performance close to a meet is a recipe for trouble- and trouble came. Hopefully, it’s not serious and a lesson has been learned.
If someone ever successfully employs such methods with a high performance sprinter, we’ll report your claims.
For everyone else, read the threads posted from the archives (and the claims made!).
You need to check the IP address of the person who used this name. “chrisk” My guess is that you will find a double. The real Chrisk has never even visited your forum.
huh? sorry but if this forum is got your name on it, my guess is the buck stops with you. Whether you know how to operate the software doesn’t really matter.
Whats up Drob can you please keep it real with us bro and set the story straight, bc when I see stuff like this i dont know what to believe >>>> “I’m a firm believer in getting strength in the stretch. I have been supervising the workouts of an elite sprinter who is following a regime crafted by Dan. He can squat 600’lbs and PC a boatload…but has no extensibility when he runs. He has no strength in the stretch”.
Inno-Sport/WGF system hasn’t been shown to work at any high level. I think his system is best suited towards uncoordinated athletes with bad feet, not elite sportsmen.
