Gauging Speed(400m)

One of my athletes - a genuinely strong 200/400 runner, ran two PB’s 45 mins apart on Wednesday night. 21.34 for 200m then 46.90 for 400m.

2 x 21.24 = 42.68

10% x 42.68 = 4.268

42.68 + 4.268 = 46.948 - So it was pretty close to what he ran.

This is about what I would expect so I use the formula 2 x 200m = 10% as a ballpark for what the athlete should run.

Would be different for a purer 100/200 runner.

compared to 47.52 from that calculator.
