GPP & SPP Lengths

Looking at the CF programmes which are based around 12 weeks and having looked through the various discussions, just wondered what peoples thoughts were on the length of the GPP and SPP?

I live in the UK where for the 400m runners it is normally a long winter as there is no indoor 200m track within a few hours drive and we tend not to race indoors.

Therefore the GPP can start late Sept after 3/4 weeks off at the end of the summer season, meaning there isnt a race again until May. This is a long time!" and if the SPP is 12-16 weeks (divided roughly into two phases) then we are probably looking at around a 12 week GPP.

What are the feeling son this and would the type of work done change due to the length of time available? Just looking for some additional thoughts…

Remember that there is SPP1 and SPP2 before outdoor comp in Charlie’s triple-periodised scheme…

There are more and more indoor facilities in GB. Is it still the case that nothing is possible?
(Think in terms of 2x/week)

We have use of a 60m indoor stretch but nearest indoor 200m track is nearly 3 hours away…although there are more facilities, just not near us!

We have used turnabouts etc inside when needs be, but need to do the alternative tempo stuff etc when the weather is bad.

turnarounds can be used very effectively.

Would a modified L-to-S program with 1 day a week dedicated to speed (indoors) be a possible solution?

L-to-S could move 1x/wk day and then 2x/wk as speeds increase in SE, relying on hills, sleds etc for the short componant

Would this be something like this
Mo: Speed
Tu: ExT
We: SE
Th: ExT
Fr: ExT
Sa: SE

Moving toward this:
Mo: Speed
Tu: ExT
We: SE
Th: ExT
Fr: Speed
Sa: SE

?

All good suggestions I will have a look at how I can get this fitted together.
