My cousin asked me the other day if i could give him a good lifting program for football because he wants to try and walk on the college football team, but i figured i’d come to you guys and ask what you think are some of the better lifting programs for aspiring football players? I searched over the internet the other night and came across this program called The Pigskin Power program http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/vm4a.htm
What’s your opinion on this program? Do you think it’s any good? Thanks for any replies
My response is going to be the same as it was with the other thread you posted, it depends. Find out what works for yourself and use it. If you want someone to dictate what to do find a good coach. There is no perfect program for everyone.
Thanks for the reply, although im not going to be using this program since im not interested in football, i already have developed my own i was just curious what you thought overall about this program as i think right now the best thing for my cousin would be a cookie cutter type routine. He’s not a beginner to weight training by any means but he’s also not some savvy veteran.
I’d look into some stuff by DeFranco. WSFSBI and II are used by alot of his football guys I believe. I’ve used some of his methods at one time with success. Search around here though, I’m sure you can find some good threads by xlr8, football coach, etc. Good luck!
Thanks man! I’m very familiar with Defrancos stuff as i have used it for my grappling in the past.
No problem! I like his programs, especially for beginners/football players. It is relativley easy to complete, and they are great for putting on size/strength. Seems to work for all his guys that use it, and for the people I know that have used it for a time as well.
Very True, i think that might be the program i reccomend for my cousin.
Cool. Remember that you don’t have to do that stuff to a T, it’s the template to work from but he gives you options to work with!
What are his current stats ? Height, weight, 40, PB’s? Position?
He’s 5’7’’ 150lbs, he’s a wide reciever…he’s trying to walk on a D2. He REALLY needs to add some msucle mass to his frame.
