Final 40 Meters Of 100

I coach in HS, and I have a runner who ran 11.27 fat last year. At the only big meet so far this year he ran a 11.42, for 5th place, and the thing I noticed was that he was about even with the other 4 runners for 60 meters, and then suddenly dropped off. He wins the 100 at dual meets, but I noticed the same, that his final 40 should be a little better. We are moving into the competition part of the season, and I would like advice on what workouts to do to improve his final 40 meters of the 100. Any suggestions??
