fiber conversion

I am confused about fiber conversion as it relates to tempo work. It has been stated that tempo is good recovery training but at the same time you don’t want too much or to intense to convert white fiber to red. So does the right amount of tempo not stimulate any more then the red fibers a person has so that no more are converted? Or is there another explanation?

There is intermediate fibre that can go either way depending on demand. It is more of an intensity issue than volume. As long as you consider tat the tempo is a supporting means for the speed and power work, you should be ok.
