Charlie, have you ever prepared a book/video (single or series), in an exact step by step format, including exactly what to do in stretching, warm-up, movement, tempo’s, sprint drills, etc.? I know a lot of it is covered in Key Concepts and CFTS and GPP video, but it still leaves a lot to the imagination. Is that the point? Give the basis format, and let the coaches learn from it/with it? Or is there eventually going to be an exact, day by day product in the future?
p.s. I know everyone is different so it’s virtually impossible, but you know what I’m getting at.
I think his products are already fairly exact (GPP, Vancouver 04) and even that low level of exactness gets some people into trouble because they won’t stray from his sample work at all.
The Vancouver04 s-l and l-s are very specific for a certain (or certain type of) target individual, which may be VERY different from the individual for whom the question is being asked.
As Charlie has pointed out a number of times, these are SAMPLES and not formulas to be followed in cookie-cutter form.
You have people capable of 2000-3000 m/wk of training (because a high work capacity has been developed) but sometimes only one very high CNS stressor a week (because of a high CNS development requiring more recovery)…and you have people who can go max in HI 2-3 times a week (because their CNS is not highly developed) but can’t handle much volume (600-800 m/wk) because the work capacity hasn’t been developed yet.
No need to feel stupid bacause you are partly right. We plan to create a series of products that will interpolate the broader outlines - ie. what would you do if you had this particular situation etc - though they will still need to be adjusted for individual circumstances. This first group of products will be a “no excuses” series. (we hear all the time about what facilities or budget people DON’T have- what then? How can they still get the job done?)
That would be great. I would like to see things like how to progress the program done for the gpp disc into spp. Also, to see what kind of gpp would have been done for the person doing the spp in the vanc. 04 disc and be able to contrast the two knowing they would obviously, have differences. I think that would provide an great learning experience.
Additionally how to progress the same Vanc. 04 spp into longer SE runs and how to best work such a program into the comp. phase.
