Dvd

The DVD is an outstanding source and I would highly recommend it. I especially liked the graphs of the weekly set-ups near the end, it is rare to see specific examples of Charlie’s theory in action. Can’t wait for the SPP DVD! Charlie are you still working on the other manual or has that been replaced by th DVD’s?

The hills would be classified as high intensity- but there can be a big variation in degrees within this classification. In the 100m the difference for a 100m sprinter who can run 10.00 when he performs at 10.50 is huge- yet both are high intensity. The highest intensity speed and the highest intensity Plyos would be done on the same day- but there is some room to manouver early in the program before intensity is maximized- and when the volumes are small.

we’re working on both- and it’s an excruciating process. Both are complementary as you can cover general theory with the writings and specifics with a DVD because you can see the subject in action and better judge the actual demands of what you’re seeing.

Last question, I was forgetting:
I have seen in the DVD that the steepness of the hill is quite different in a pair of shots (one on the grass and the other on the road): is it a variable that can be managed, for example proceeding from low steepness to high steepness during the GPP cycle (and what is the optimal steepness) or it is a variable of minor importance?
I would proceed from low to high steepness during the GPP, due to the fact that strength is going up with the high-end represented by the maximum steepness that doesn’t break the running form (or better when you are not climbing the hill).

We primarily worked on the steeper part, as we found it gave the best overall mechanics for her, specifically, and we worked from shorter to longer throughout the period. This progression is listed on one of the graphs. The less steep part could be used for the longest hills, or when the grass was wet and therefore slippery.

I got the DVD today! I’m very excited. Not as excited as my mom, however. The PayPal was under her name so the cover says:
For Ellen:
Enjoy!
Charlie Francis 2003

LMAO  …Thats Hallarious!!! I bet your mom is like, “Charlie? Who the hell is Charlie??” haha I bet it raised your dad’s eyebrows too lol. Nice post, enjoy the DVD.

Sorry Vito! (hereafter known as "Uncle Charlie) At least the DVD won’t get you in trouble!

Hi Pete,

Send me a private message with your address, we’d be happy to send you a new insert personalized to you.

Happy Holidays,

Rupert

how long does the sale and autographed deal for the DVD go for? I"m hoping to order some time after Christmas

Rupert,
I just got the DVD today after getting back from vacation. Unfortunately, neither one of my DVD players will read it. What disc format is it recorded on, DVD-R or DVD+R? I know my Toshiba DVD player is touchy about reading anything that is not a commercially produced DVD or CD, however, even the Super Drive on my Mac cannot read the disc, it just spits it out, and the Super Drive is designed to read and write DVD-Rs.
Needless to say, I’m frustrated.

Has anyone else encountered this technical problem?

I just did some research on the Web and my Toshiba SD-2200 should be able to read DVD-R but not DVD+R. I just need to know the exact format of the disc, is it DVD+R?

Great DVD got it today…It didn’t work in one of my DVD player, with luck, it worked in the other. Great stuff!

im guessing this is the last thing you guys wanted to hear:

about the middle of the section where the woman is walking over the hurdles with the med ball held above her head, the dvd begins to skip and stall. evnetually it stops completely and the entire dvd program shuts down. has anyone else had this problem?

ive looked at the dvd and its totally clean, not a single scratch or mark anywhere on it. i think it was a problem with the burning of it, perhaps burnt at too high a speed. Both my mac and pc stall at the same section.

from about hill work on though the dvd is fine

to rupert: did u do ur design work for the dvd on a mac or pc? just out of interest

I took my DVD to Comp USA last night and tried it on a few DVD drives. It didn’t work in their PowerBook either, but it did work just fine in a DVD+R drive.

Hi Dwatling,

You may have a defective disk, if you wish, simply send it back and we’ll replace it with a clean (and tested) copy.

Hope this helps, as for format they will work in ANY drive that supports DVD-R technology. PM me for more info.

Rupert
