Generally a well balanced nervous system, free of interference (see neuraltherapy approach), prepare the body to ARP treatment.
Any kind of problem can generate a disturb into the body/CNS, this can limit the results with the ARP, and in my opinion with any kind of therapy.
My experience with interference go from scar tissue to classic chiro subluxation.
A my basic approach is toward balancing Cranium, Spinal Column, Pelvis/Viscera.
Some peoples have specific and hard to find interference, but when you find and correct it, ARP treatment become extremely powerfull.
An interference is a field of disturb that cause a neurologic disorganization.
A simple example, can be the level of hydratation, of low level of sugar into the blood.
Athletic performance and general CNS function can be lowerd by this little understood condition.
This is my issue with ARP for sprinting (I think it works well for team sports). I’m not sure how you combine it optimally with sprint training at the levels required to make an Olympic final. The contact times are so short and the power output so high that I cannot envisage training like Schroeder suggests when you are hitting 12m/s. However of course I would like to decrease the recovery time needed and achieve a greater number of very high quality sessions (increased density) in a year as this is what allows the learning to occur for the best performances.
For reference, unless someone is “balanced” they percieve the ARP as much more or much less painful than normal. While the muscle is still contracted the healing effect doesn’t seem to work as well - my feeling is that the feedback created by ARP is not well accepted by the brain or whatever tissue is processing the information. There is definitely a neurological level to the treatment not just a cellular one.
Of course, the primary way to increase the density of speed exposure to maximise learning is through multiple periodization vs single periodization for the year.
Only dealing with injuries. Unfortunately, I never had the chance to have therapy on a regular basis (2-3 times a week) other than the self massage etc.
I thought the ARP was designed for humans.Aren’t sprinters and team sports athletes all humans?
By the way it has also been successfully used with race horses who are hitting much greater than 12m\s,and their power outputs are obviously far superior.
And that,as far as I know, was just at ARP output power level 2.0 on a scale of 0.1 to 10.0!
I was referring to shock training method for sprint workouts rather than the other recovery methods which I do use and have been implementing more often as per your recommendation last time we met.
One question I have is if there is any concern about adaptation or blunting of the stimulus of different therapeutic modalities depending on their frequency. Example, let’s say you had virtually unlimited therapy access (any type within reason) and had nothing but training/rest/eating/sleeping to do. Would you still not necessarily want to use certain therapeutic modalities multiple times a time? Some of the ARP literature and case studies indicate multiple sessions a day, but base it on the “organism’s” ability to recover/heal/etc. Is there ever a concern about the therapy being less effective over time with constant stimulation?
For sure you wouldn’t want to use RICE all the time because of the potential for this. Why we are interested in ARP is because we are trying to “kick start” the healing process by trying to get the body to adapt more efficiently. The two are quite different. You still have to wait for adaptation to occur but the aim is to reduce the period of the cycle to increase density.
So is the ARP more about creating favorable conditions for self-regeneration, as opposed to directly facilitating recovery? And by recovering faster, you can potentially train more frequently?
How does this apply when you move into uncharted territory (PBs) where the fatigue response is unknown, even prior to considering ARP usage? Does the usage of ARP aid in determining the magnitude of the response, or it could it make it harder due to adding another ‘unknown’?
Do you believe that these conditions are created at the neural level, the fascial level, or both?
This is the reason for give a chance to other points of view.
In your mental universe 2+2 =4, probably 4 isn’t always the right answer…or your 2 isn’t a really 2 but a 3.
What does an electric pulse do to your body?
Does ARP send something into you body? Secret Cryptated Information? What do you thing do ARP?
It’s a “special” pulse, but always an electric pulse, direct current electron flow.
Do nothing doesn’t mean nothing.
We see the necessity of doing something, the body do something, It’s the same with training.Training do nothing.
We are too much attached to our belief for see over a stupid limit…I hope we are over the industrial revolution and the humancentrism concept
“If real is what you can feel, smell, taste and see, then ‘real’ is simply electrical signals interpreted by your brain”
“Have you ever had a dream, Neo, that you were so sure was real? What if you were unable to wake from that dream? How would you know the difference between the dream world and the real world?”
“Do you believe that my being stronger or faster has anything to do with my muscles in this place? Do you think that’s air you’re breathing now?”
“You have to let it all go, Neo. Fear, doubt, and disbelief. Free your mind.”
