I am running hills twice a week and doing accel work once a week with weights 1-2 times a week as well. I figured I would continue burning off the pounds but I have actually gained 3 pounds and about 2 inches on my legs!! I am growing like mad!!
Is this normal for GPP? Will I trim down a bit after I start adding SE runs etc? I dont really mind that much as I am running much faster for my workouts I just find it a little backwards hehe My upper body has stayed about the same but my legs (especially upper hams/glutes, and to a lesser extent calfs) are getting alot bigger. y weight training volume is actually LESS than before… weird…
I can relate to this a bit. Normally I am a hard gainer with ectomorphic legs (big upper body though) but sometimes… out of the blue… boom, my thighs are growing at a fast rate. I love it. I think hill sprints at max intensity certainly have a lot to do with it. Often when my training volume has stopped increasing I start getting my best results. It’s strange, I’ve not yet completely discovered how to make it consistant. As a side note, my thighs have gained 3 quaters of an inch in the last month despite averaging 5 to 6.5 hours of sleep a night. That is cuase I’m generally eating good and apart from crap sleep, everything else is genarally going o.k, but it could be a lot better which is… pretty encouraging for me to.
I noticed after my track season was over that my thighs were significantly bigger. My pants used to be fairly baggy throughout the entire legs, but now they are rubbing up against the inside of my thighs to the point where I can’t wear them. Waist is the same, but thighs are bigger.
I’m sure you can get a little bigger, but I wish I had your problem, too.
I’m having the same thing happening to me right now too! ive gained about 3-4 pounds in my gpp never measured my theighs but they do look noticably bigger.
I’ve had tha same thing happen as you… I always had chicken legs, still do to an extent, but my upper thigh has grown enourmously. I put it down to hill sprints!
