well it seems i anatomically have a shorter leg (my right is half a cm shorter then left). having anterior pelvic tilt, and spine curving to the right becuase muscle compensation from the hips which link to the short leg as well as gr 2 seperated shoulder with scar tissue, weak flexibility. It seems my body is trying to adapt by having the shorter leg longer so it pronates more, so it can keep my hips more aligned. My ART specialist told me this did some stuff and gave me stretches and should be able to resolve the issues. It’s interesting as i have alot of bodyfat for my height but seem to be progressing anyway with some pains from working out and sprint training. With all these problems does’nt seem like i can run a sub 11, i mean are there world class athletes that have gotten by with somewhat poor anatomy or biomechanics but had good treatment? thoughts are appreciated
Usually the shorter leg tries to compensate by supinating more (higher arch) and the longer leg pronates! I have worked with some athletes (no one world-class, mind you; but people who have run under 11 seconds) who have similar problems and have good treatment and therapy. They are able to get onto the track and perform well.
i could only think of one with a deviation such as mine and was world class joaquim cruz of brazil 800m runner gold medalist and hella fast a few cm was short on his left leg if i remember. I’m just wondering if its different for 100m sprinter.
i could think of one world class joaquim cruz with the same anatomical deviation as mine and he was 800m world class and hella fast for a 800m runner.
I believe Keneteris (spelling? The Greek 200m Sydney Gold medallist) had a limb length discrepancy also. I believe this was discussed before on a previous post.
Senri, was there an x-ray taken or was the descrepency just eye-balled?
i’m gonna get one done on my next session, man i hate when they say this hope i can still move knowing about such a deviation
Even x-ray measurements are not very accurate. X-ray is a shadowgraph meaning that even slight errors in positioning the limb in front of the “camera” gives you false readings. And there is no way someone can tell you by just looking and measuring tape that you have one leg shorter.
So then how can you tell if there is a leg length descrepency? Just by going on hip height or foot structure?
Please explain? If you have the knowledge of the proper way to measure a leg length discrepancy (anatomical or mechanical), why is the tape measure inaddequate?
i just hope with all these problems i can go sub 11. I wonder if maurice, donovan, or maybe even ato had to deal with deviations like this, hmmmmm
Senri, 1/2" or less is not a problem. Even up to 3/4" most people don’t have problems. With everything else being in place, genetics, training, coaching, etc… it should’nt be a problem to run well. Put it this way, your ability to run a sub 11 sec 100m should’nt be effected by a minor leg length descrepancy.

seems like its 10mm short my right leg, i saw the x-rays and my pelvis tilts to the rightlike crazy along with my spine. My art guy gave me a heel slip or something to elevate my right leg abit
