It’s now up on the t-mag (t-nation?) site. I haven’t had time to give it a proper look. Thoughts?
I havent read it either but I’m glad to see its up, I’ve been waiting for that for a long time.
I’ve read it. It’s a radical concept so I’m having a bit hard time to digest all the stuff! It’s more like condensed linear periodization rather than conguated method. You’re changing something completely different every week. 1st week is bodybuidling, 2nd week is limit strength, 3rd week is strenght speed (DE), 4th week is speed strength (ballistic stuff) and finally 5th week is active recovery (isolate BB stuff). 3 days a week with emphasis on concentric for one day, eccentric for 2nd day and isometric for 3rd day. when I first read it, I went like “HUH?”. I guess I’m just used to conjugated training method like Kenn’s tier system which i use most of time and Modified westside which i use whenever i get bored with tier system. i don’t know if I like the pendulum training because of lack of frequency in all types of strength. Too much time space between them and i wonder if i’d get really sore from it.
At best it’s sub optimal…
OK. What would you consider to be optimal training program for athletes? What’s wrong with CT’s program for athletes?
I would like to know how people modify the Tier mehtod for athletes.
Thanks
Adam
You can buy his book at http://www.flexcart.com/members/elitefts/frames.asp and read his training log at http://asp.elitefts.com/qa/Default.asp?tid=81
Go to this http://asp.elitefts.com/qa/default.asp?qid=23112&tid=81 . That’s the tier stuff Coach H designed for college football players.
i think you already stated whats wrong with it
Me likey your picture! CT stated that his athletes did well on that program though. Who knows unless we try it out first. Maybe it actually works…
Anybody used it or know of some who have who can comment?
If you are looking for challenging strength and conditioning programs developed by an expert in track and field events and all sports conditioning, (He spent time learning from the masters of strength in the USSR, Romania, was with numerous Olympic programs) you need to investigate the work of Istvan Javorek. He has been training athletes for over 40 years, and has just released his opus. Many programs are laid out and the thinking behind the concepts. Try his tremendous pleasures program and you will be stimulated!!
He also was a strength coach at Texas A&M, now he is at Johnson County Community College, KS. Great guy to talk to.
