You may want to reduce the volume slightly from the DVD as that is for an intermediate runner. If you are still running 12-13s 100m it might be a little much for you. I have found around 350-500m total seems to work better for people starting out. Charlie’s programs run upto 7-800m in some of the GPP workouts.
No point trying to do more than your body can handle, it is wasted time and effort and you will probably get injured.
You want to increase volume gradually each year until about 5 years - see Vancouver 2002/2004 DVD for more details.
Well the thing is im not that fast but i am fit. I can run off lots of tempo runs already with relatively little recovery (more than 30s alright but at most a minute)
I dont think i’ll have a problem with the tempo runs.
I was wondering what 200m PB time would you project for someone who’s tempo runs are sub 26 constantly though. I know its not a real scenario but id just like yere opinion please? I reckon about the 20-21s mark. What do you think?
Also id like to knowwhere i can find info on under age sprinting records if there is such a thing. Like u18/ u21 records for the 100m and 200m??
i have done 20x200m in 29-30 on grass with 30s recovery, and my pb at that particular point of time was not very good. Maybe low 26?? Later in the season when 800’s were being raced, maybe 23sec?
done 8x200m in 26 with 2min rec. and pb at the time, around 24-25
done 4x200m in 25 with 2min rec. and pb around 24.
Dont know if that gives you an idea??
at the time i was… 800m anyway.lol
just giving an idea that you dont need to be super fast to do repeatable efforts at a supposed pace. I doubt that the 12x200’s at 26s means a 20’s 200m.
