IS it better to take short quick steps or long strides coming out of the blocks?
Short, but I think its all relative to the height of the sprinter. thoughts?

i’m 5’9 I tried comin out with long strides but my teammate who runs the same times as me tends to come out with short quick steps and beats me out of the blocks everytime
During the drive phase(in other words, the phase where one is exploding out of the blocks) it is very common for sprinters to take shorter steps. You make a clawing action with your legs for that extra push. I’ve come to believe that you must be a VERY strong sprinter to be able to come out of blocks quickly with long strides.
