So, if an athlete can hang clean 300lb and only power clean 290lb this would not suggest he has a week link somewhere or is doing something wrong??
It is not unusual for one’s hang power clean to exceed their power clean from the floor by a significant amount. When I competed in olympic lifting and practiced both equally, I hang cleaned from above the knee about 10% more than from the floor. This was also true for many others that I coached.
Hang variations induce a strech reflex in the hip extensors (if there is no pause in the starting position) which permits greater forces.

I dunno I powerclean way more from the floor- 20lbs. You get 2 accleration phases and longer pull time plus double knee rebend - which in itself taps into the stretch reflex
