Charlie's System?

Where can I find an in-depth overview of Charlie’s training philosophy? Is his system geared specificly for sprinters, or does he apply it to other sports? Does he have any books? What is the best way to learn his methods?

yes go to the charliefrancis.com, he has books and dvd’s for sale. and yes it can be applied to many different sports and in fact is.

You’d be amazed at how easily you can integrate charlie’s ideas and program design into training for other sports. Philosophically speaking, he’s the most brilliant coach I’ve EVER HEARD and is clearly the best SPEED COACH in the W-O-R-L-D!! Purchase the CFTS, ah hell, just buy them all!! I have the CFTS, the Forum Review, a hard copy of Speed Trap, and the GPP Essentials DVD and Jane Project and they’re all worth their weight in bling bling. You can also do a search on Charlies profile and read through his posts for quite a ways back (this is obviously less efficient).

Sprint training is easily transferred over into other sports. If you’re faster and stronger than everyone, you will dominate.

I have the Training for Speed book, The Forum Review and Speed Trap. I’ll probably pick-up the GPP DVD in the near future.

I am not necissarilly looking for sprint training. I am looking for his philosophy on training in general.

Speedkills
Which of those resources did you feel gave the most info on his philosophy of sports enhancement?

All his works are great I’d start with CFTS and the forum review. Later add the GPP dvd to give you an idea of organization

The forum review content is more broad.

It’s kind of interesting to read about philosophies, I like it too. But keep in mind that training philosophy, regardless of whom you refer to, doesn’t necessarily add up to the practical fieldwork they do. Fieldwork comes first; reaction to different circumstances, problems and different athletes is elementary and necessary – it’s what we call experience and common sense. Philosophy is just a way to remember what was done, and why – it should not lead the way, but it might be helpful in understanding the way.

That is exactly what I am looking for. I like to study a given philosophy and analyze/ hypothosize about why it works, then utilize it within training regimes. Experience and common sense will always determine the proper route of training, and knowing many different training philosophies will enhace your common sense and experience as well as your understanding.
