When starting sprint training again,after a long layoff, what is the cause of the lower back muscles cramping/hurting when doing tempo, what does this
mean? I usually notice this maybe half way into my tempo workouts.
1.Is it because I am too heavy? 230lbs at 6’0?
or
2.Lower muscles are too weak?

It’s because you don’t have the lower back endurance that you had when you were training previously. You’ll get this back within a few weeks.
How much did you weigh before this layoff?
Honestly, 7 yrs ago I weighed 190 when I ran 10.6
