actually now that i am trying to recall instances when this has happened, I seem to remember a range- with sex the night before, comp the next day ranged from solid/average to PR’s (probably depending on how good the night was!
) but i don’t seem to remember that it gave any really bad performances. i think the toll had a lot to do with emotional energy (and probably focus) as well, i am flexible enough to not feel the effects physically the next day.
as far as going solo is concerned, i’ve wondered about the possibility of being over-relaxed or something, but it doesn’t seem to make much difference and i actually sleep better.
since i am not losing precious testosterone as you gentleman are, i can’t really see the harm, as long as i’m not in wild mode! in my opinion, you will do better if you are happy and well-rested/relaxed… frustration, especially of that kind, does not really seem to translate into PR’s, at least for me.

Maybe… but the first priority should be to bring up your work capacity.
I find that I tend to lose my edge. I feel that there is a cloud over my mind (reminds me of George in Seinfeld). Does the release of dopamine and endorphins have any effect on the function of the body? I believe it can influence the function of the mind.
I guess a standard Charles Poliquin 5010 Tempo would be fine with low reps and many sets (4-5) with 90 secs rest periods.
You could also consider isometrics as Christian discusses in his work.
EMS on the other hand maybe diffiulct and trying to get pads the appropriate size and shape to stick will be tricky.
Visulation is also a very good tool to use but try to do it silently as mentioning names isn’t a good idea.
A Slow warm up is critical to avoid injury and a sudden halt to the session. Taking copious amounts of fluid on board is also a very good idea and always reccomened and remind your partner to drink in case they forget.
Self stretching is very important and getting a partner to hlep can be beneficial.
And end your session with a post coital protein shake and a nice deep sleep.

haha i like that idea… find a training partner with a parallel competition schedule and make arrangements to go at it pre-comp! all in the name of good training of course

Hilarious. I’ll have to try that, wonder what she’ll think of that. Usually I go for the 0.5 0 0.5 0 tempo and then it builds up and I finish with a 0.25 0 0.25 0 tempo. Maybe I’ll try those more “eccentric” reps as prescribed by Charles Polaquin.
