Can sprint drills also be done on non-speed days? Can they be done up to 5 days a weak?
Dan Pfaff had his sprinters do drills even on some non-speed days.
Did Ben ever do some drills on tempo days? I love drills, started doing them again and could devote a whole session to just doing drills, but only if it’s usefull. Or do they have to be done on sprint days. Does the muscles recover within 24 hours from drills work?
On the GPP DVD, you can see that we incorporate rills in Warm-up 1 on all days, though the volume is such that there’s no overload
What do you mean specifically about drills, do you mean power-speed drills?
Yes. I’m assuming the reference is to power speed drills.
Do you mean running A’s for example charlie when you say power speed drills?
I am reffering to;
Quick feet drill. Just knees up & down very quickly 15 - 20m
Running A’s. 30m
Ankling. (I think it’s called that, you bounce your feet off your butt- but with knees in front of c.o.g, /not “butt kickers” where thigh is vertical.)
A few other drills.
All this stuff can fall into the PS catagory IF both the vol and the duration is within limits. Remember, the more drills you add, the easier it is to get over the top and have detrimental effects- not to mention the potential paralysis by analysis that can lead from so many unnecessary drills on a routine basis. Beyond the basics, Use the rest only when you need it
I would assume that regardless of anything else, the drills would serve as an effective form of dynamic stretching. I know thats what I use them for regardless of the workout I’m doing.
