EXACTLY. Those who know…know.
actually… i wasn’t insinuating what you are, but hey whose keeping track.
I have not insinuated anything other than careful observation, thought, and analysis. We will see what the IAAF says as well as how Bolt peforms over the next few months.
“WOW!! Bolt’s first 50m is amazing for someone his size.”
6 months ago you were amazed at his speed over the first 50m and now you’re surprised that he just ran a fast 100m??
Yup, because we are tallking about a much higher degree of acceleration. Look at this performance in relation to the greats. Nuff said.
In my eyes Bolt has always been a great talent, and he always performs in front of home support, I think that may be his weakness tho, because he doesn’t reproduce these performances away from home. I think his progression is a testament to his change in attitude towards his training and good coaching (he’s one of those persons who used to just rely on his incredible talent and slack off in training and at school). Plus, as far as I know from friends in track & field in Jamaica we don’t really focus on serious vitamin supplementation until into our 20’s. Just my thoughts.
(I have to verify this but I believe they tested him before and after that race on Saturday)
I believe he is a great talent, and I think recently he has performed well internationally. Realistically last year, he was not going to beat Tyson Gay in Osaka. I forget where he ran his 19.75, but I’m pretty sure it was in Europe somewhere. He has been fairly consistent the last two seasons, but to run 9.76 is a huge step up and to reproduce performances like that regualarly is going to be more difficult than producing 19.9 runs day in day out. Time will tell!
he ran 19.75 at the national trials last year, I was there
Times just keep improving…Greene had one career sub 9.8, Johnson one sub 9.8, Lewis had none and only managed a 9.86. Now at this years olympics…a 9.8 in good conditions which would get you gold always may not even be good enough for bronze. I know all the talk about how far the 100m time can improve down the road, but I seriously wonder how this progression will go…Powell was 9.74 and could have done a 9.69 based on splits, and now Bolt does a 9.76 and at such a young age, has complete potential for a sub 9.7. Gay just hasnt had the right conditions and is definitely capable of a 9.76-9.78 like we saw with the 2+m/s 9.76/9.79s last season.
I stand corrected!
in Osaka Tyson ran 9"85 with head wind (-0.5 m/s)
it’s difficult to say how many advantage can take a wind of 1.8 but clearly the there is huge difference
then
nobody can say how far bolt can do in the future!
he can run better race without optimal conditions
i.e. Mo Greene ran his WR with a poor reaction time, old track and nil wind (+0.2)
surely, bolt his a tremendous talent and this year can go sub 19"6 in 200s
(why not sub 19"5?)
tyson vs bolt is a great match for this summer
PS: what was bolt’s split in QF in osaka at 100 m and 150?
Where Greene ran his 9.79 in Athens was a good track! Granted the wind was still. I don’t know what his reaction time was.
I was about to say… Athens had always been a good track…
good track but old (not the same on 2004 for OG)
Yea, it was re layed for the OG, but it was mondo from the WC in 97, and Boldon ripped it up in 1998 with a 9.86 into a headwind if I recall!
there was also a wonderful 9"86 of Mo (WCh 1997)
i think new track is faster than older
or not?
btw, 2 yeas ago Gatlin setted his WR in his second race (in Doha, after Osaka - of course before he ran other minor races), in may
Wild yams Albert- The US has sweet potato fries and the heat kills the extracts.
Agreed!..
