Bilateral work

What are the advantages/disadvantages of bilateral work. I recently was put through a workout emphasizing single leg squats and single leg jump squats which resulted in a tremendous cns drain over the next 48 hours. I literally slept 10 hours each day and the sleep was restless-and I woke up groggy each morning. (normally 6) Three days later the spring in my legs felt very evident. What are people’s experiences?

Id be very careful with single leg jump squats especially if you are landing on one foot.
But single leg squats may be good for wokring the stabilizers. Although I believe weight lifting should be general i do believe in weight room specificty to some degree and after all we do run with one leg at a time.
