had timed that run at about 10.3-10.4 range too. Crazy that it’s an 93-94% effort range for him, also running that time in flats.

I was fine watching videos but after i clicked on the 2000fps vid it came up with that message and for every other video ive tried to watch since then! I’ve done all the steps it says to but its still not working help!
great vids btw, I did get a chance to watch most of them before youtube decided not to work.
It is a 90m, not a 100m ! Check the lines. If you still doubt, count the number of steps, there are 37 or 38. Now it is 83-84% effort.
Congrats Chris for the video and report!
PJ, did you time it? Looks too fast to be 10.4ht for 90m but I guess with flats a bit hard to tell.
I had high 11s, and my HT is slow.
I find 10.0 with my stopwatch but there is paralax issue with the finish line.
I’d say 11 Mid - High. 9.74 runner yes…10.3-10.4 jogging with flats with no accel phase or proper sprinting form… NO.
He’s just jogging…going through the motions.
What is it with everyone timing EVERYTHING!?
Great stuff Chris.
good stuff ! thank you chris !!!
asafa is not a muscle bound dude, just enuf to get he job done… lite and soft on the legs, and enuf momentum in the upper body…
ITS ALL ABOUT…CNS…
ciao
For 90m you mean.

What do yall think about his arms coming out of the blocks?
On the issue of Asafa’s knee extension (or lack of!) - I know he’s only jogging here but also when he sprints there doesn’t APPEAR to be full extension… whether his ‘toe-off’ is just incredibaly fast so we don’t see the extension, or not… he does something different to the others.
If he does sprint with a slightly bent leg and considering the ant. pelvic tilt (although not so pronounced when running compared to walking) there ought to be a huge amount of emphasis on his hamstrings - more so than most sprinters… ? ? ? please discuss
Irrelevant for any of us–I am going to guess he does get full extension–how do you expect to see every frame with only ~30fps? Charlie discussed this before.
There is also a reason why his group, in the past, tended to get a relatively high number of hamstring strains/injuries.
What about 2000fps?
lol 2000fps of a jog yes–that should give us the answer ;).
Exactly the point!
I wonder how hard it would be to get hold of a 2000fps video of AP sprinting??
Would be interesting to see…
The start that was filmed in Miami wasn’t him coming out the way he would do in a race.
This footage here is a better example…and yes he does get FULL extension.
I was looking at the starts he did in miami and comparing them with some starts at meets and looked as if his block pedal placement was different. Maybe he was trying something new at miami. I do think he was coming out of the blocks hard. I do not think it is possible to explode out like that at less then 90%. I have the ability to slow any of the footage down per each frame with my computer. When I slowed down the shot of him coming out of the blocks with the behind view, he was definitely pressing hard against the blocks.
What do you guys think about his foot placement in the blocks. They were very high on the blocks. IS that illegal.
It’s not illegal to have your feet up on the pedals nowadays, though it used to be. Rest assured that if he’s in flats, he’s NOT pushing out full-force or he’d go flat on his face.
