Just something I noticed after my last strength training session, where I squatted heavy (~6rm for 5, 90%6rm for 5) then Snatched (~70%x3x3), that my snatches were in fact positively influenced by the heavy squats. Anyone have any idea why?
Your nervous system is stimulated.
Also in regards to the snatch, strength is more likely to be the limiting factor for you then Rate of force development or speed. Some people notice the same exact thing but with the opposite stimulation…they increase performance with a higher speed movement prior to a snatch (or any other lift). In your case, with technique being the same I’d guess you can probably increase your snatch poundages simply by getting stronger overall----ala the Louie Simmons approach to O-lifting.
