I think that goes along with her incredible height off the track, especially towards the last 40 or so.
LOL i thought i saw Gatlin running
and i saw that too, as if she were smiling or something…
To the general public who were lucky enough to witness her performances in 1988 she was more famous for her huge smile towards the finish of races, especially the Seoul Olympic 100 final, than she ever was for her speed or her ostentacious fashion sense.
Yep - her n Haile Gebrselassie, smiling assassins.
Didn’t Lewis show the same sort of excitement in the LA '84 100 final??
Yeah but he broke into that huge smile on or just across the finish line. Flojo started grinning with 20m to go! Talk about relaxed!
Did anyone else see his gum come out of his mouth just after he won? It flew out, hit his knee and flew off somewhere! I thought it was really weird that he was chewing gum though.
He looked really good in the race, but pickering was just awful.
Explanation 1: Pickering stepped in Dwain’s chewy and got stuck at the back of the pack ???
means he’s pretty relaxed.
He looks anything but relaxed.
Did u saw the race? He really looked confident and relaxed… After the race he freaked out LOL…
About Pickering, i dunno what happened to him… His arms were…
Pickering has a looong way to go…
I don’t understand why people are constantly saying first white person to run sub 10…
Let the kid run jeez…
Craig didn’t have an explanation really. He will bounce back and be fine. Bad day at the office. His technique has never been particularly nice, especially his arms, so I am not sure that is the issue here.
Yeah i agree bad day @ the office, can happen!
But i know he’s having some (serious) trouble with is back… Last year in Debrecen i saw running and it looked like he stopped around 70-80 meters… It really bothered him…
Also that arm swing and that pronounced lean is not doing him any good…
Agreed but looking at his times from last year and this year:

He has almost never run 6.70 even in heats where he deliberately slows down. He simply cracked under the pressure in that race.
Could be contributing to his bad back.
I agree that was a particularly bad race for him, and he will agree with that. I’m not sure how much it was due to the pressure. His start wasn’t good, nor was it in his heats. Throughout his time as a junior and senior up til now he has been able to cope well with pressure. He only managed a 6.67 in his heat in Stuttgart this year and bounced back to win, I see no reason why he can’t do the same. His back is not an issue now. It is chronically tight, but it is as good as it ever is at the moment. In Debrecen and afterwards last summer he suffered with it yea. HE WILL BE FINE!
