apart from the turing out of the right foot. You can see it in that photo. It i worse from front on photos when foot makes contact with ground. It’s amazing he didnt have more problems due to that

he has the same problem with both feet brobably from all the soccer he used 2 play. maybe that is what seperated ato’s 9.86 from mo’s 9.79

this guy has one mother of a stride. 100m in 42 strides, there r only 2 sprinters i know of that can do that, one of them jgat ofcourse the other jean du rant, not quiet at the same speed as gatlin bt an equally impressive 42 strides.

What was Du Rant’s pb? 42 strides!! Gotta have some serious strength to pull that off!!! I’m very impressed by that. Would you ever say he over reaches though?

Easy to see why Mo was the don from this. Looks technically the best in this picture. Although the phase of stride he is in is the easiest phase in which to demonstrate good technique. He’s extended, high knees, high hands. This is an old school pic, 2001 HSI website, I remember it!

not sure if this image will work

As I scrolled down the page I only saw the runner on left page side. Scrolled to the right and saw the feet/ankle/calves of other sprinter, I knew it was Mo Green, scrolled up and hunch was confirmed.

Look at the bags under pickerings eyes. On the day I thought he had been punched out in the call room or something! He just looked terrible.

Think the lighting makes that worse than it is. I have similar bags, and I think it’s due to 5 years of getting up at 6.30 to catch a school bus (maybe common in the US, but not here). Craig did exactly the same as me in terms of that. Then we would both get home around 5, then leave for training at half 6, then home around half 8, dinner, any homework, then bed and the cycle continues.

Harry AA at national champs. he’s knee lift isnt too bad. i swear he’s bigger than last year

shawn crawford also has a MASSIVE upper body. how does this affect their peformance. too much weight?

Well that depends on the athlete! It didn’t have too much of an effect on him he ran 9.88 and 19.xx in 2004 looking like a beast. You toying with the idea of getting hench now the Gerald?! I think the most important thing is being to run (fast) with that size. Trust me I know! I was once a BB and made the transition to sprints 5 years ago…I looked intimidating on the track but could only manage 11.4! Its got to be relative!!

haha! i’m 67kg atm i was 78kg last year. i’m not trying to get hench because i’ll only manage 10.99 (wind assisted) :stuck_out_tongue: lol! I need to get to euro juniors. I forgot you used to be a BB. how heavy are you now?

I’m now a slight 76-77kg…I used to be 94kg! 5’8 tall…monster! How you finding the USA? Careful with that food out there! You’ll blow up! Notice how every thing has 33% extra free!? LOL…You gonna be here at L’Borough meet this year? Lets hope they don’t mess up our times…again rolls eyes…lol

i’ve been exposed to the food. i came at thanks giving, then we had christmas lol! i’m controlling myself  my family support me by eatin the same foods as me most of the time.

I started training last week monday so i’m not sure if i’ll be fit enough for l’brough international, i would like to. I have run a pb there 2years in a row. have you raced indoors? you should post some of your pics on here. let us analyse your technique

thats me at the indoor city cup! when I reach top speed, my back arm always seems to straighten i dont know why :S

I wonder if it is actually a result of the top of your arm action? Ideally you want to maintain the same 90 degree angle throughout. If you hold that anngle at the top you can pull straight down to the point of your hip, the arm may extend slightly but that is a result of the force applied. In your case, see how your left hand has moved closer to your head than 90 degrees? It is in a weaker position so extends more easily when pulled down…well that’s what I think :stuck_out_tongue:

Maybe if you’re a distance runner, but as a sprinter you need to break at the elbow in order to develop power (not conciously but it should still happen if you’re driving correctly). I can’t think of any athlete that stays at the same angle the whole way through.

John Smith sometimes even cues for the athlete to strike down with the hand if they’re not stroking correctly.
