Notice how Powell’s hands change in the pics above, they go from open and spread to closed into the Voodoo grip.

Bulgaria’s Tezdzhan Naimova wins women’s 200 metres final 2006 in Beijing, at the 11th IAAF Junior World Championships. Naimova won gold with a time of 22.99 seconds ahead of Brazil’s Vanda Gomes at 23.59 and Poland’s Ewelina Klocek at 23.63.

Good in the first shot, though in the second his face looks like he might be trying out for the lead in a porno movie!

Actually he may be starting a lean early

The arms tend to creep in when there’s a headwind, as there was for the women’s race

crieky, she bigger looking than a lot male runners!!

has she gotten bigger recently?

I noticed that too… She looks alot bigger than usual…

well she is also just as taller then most male sprinters.

i’ve watched OB during the europeans and he seems to have changed his mechanics which currently i’m not agreeing with.ok he ran 9.99 in the europeans but he can go much faster without changing

I will give my opinion of Gay.

I like the guy but I think he has some lost time wrapped up in unnecesarry body movements while sprinting. If you watch him fromthe front especially, he does a lot of upper body twisting throughout the race. He seems to do this even when relaxed. It is part of his running form. I just wonder why his coach has not really addressed this.

IF you look at the pic without him sticking out his tongue, note the twist in his head, torso, etc. You can actually see it in a picture, just imagine it in motion.

I am also curious why his arm angles are so wide. It almost straightens out when leg is BDC
IS this okay?

I wouldn’t address a damn thing right now. Dude PR’d by .24 in the 100 this year.

Gay ran 10.06 in 2004, what the hell is so suspicious about a 9.84 two years later ??

Not saying at this point, of course get thru this season.

BUt are you saying not to improve it if it might impact your times. And please dont go CLyde Hart/MJ mechanics on me. We are speaking about norms not exceptions.

Be careful about what you imply. Especially when we do not know what changes he has made in his training. I have always said if someone is running off raw talent and poor mech or training, then there is a lot left in the tank.

Lets ask neutral questions first.
WHo is and was his coach?
WHat has changed in his training regimen?
What were his weaknesses?
Was he ever a standout anywhere else?
Please remember his years at Arkansas! He was not know for finishing last in his heat very often

I would wait for a performance plateau before I started adjusting mechanics. The man is killing people right now. I’d be very wary of trying to implement any major ‘fixes’.

Would you please expand on this. What changes?
