advice on why a sprinter SHOULDN`T do a strongman`s gym routine

hi

a 100m/200m sprinter friend of mine has been doing a month of gym with a strongman/powerlifter, i just found out the other day, while watching him doing TRICEPS & SHOULDERS , i sat there amazed, i think he is training every day at gym, which is the first wrong thing, now what would the first things that i could say to him to change back to his normal gym programme involving snatch, deadlifts, incline bench press etc, am i right in saying this is affecting him and his future performance? Any other comments?

how is he recovering when doing gym work every day.leave him alone and just watch him in a few weeks time.bet he’ll be on the physio table providing that hes still doing track workouts

hes not doing any track work at the moment, and he might be going to worlds in august, hes not doing physical harm right? i mean he can still run, just not as fast?

worlds in august and he isnt doing any track work at the moment?!!! good luck!
what does this guy run?

most strongman competitors don’t even do gym work. if they do any, they will squat, the rest of their training is doing the actual events. as quick said, if he has dropped sprinting and has to peak in august, good luck.

200m, im not sure if he is going, it depends on the track federation, i think im just gonna leave it, make your own bed, you have to lay in it!

work on your main event as in sprinting.if hes a sprinter he should be focusing on sprinting and refining his faults then lifting.

if hes training for the strongman circuit good, but for sprinting he needs elasticity from track work.WC in august, whats his secret

okay i heard he is doing some track work, maybe once, but not more than twice a week though.

lebeau if you really care for this person give him some of your advice,if not he’ll not be ready for 2006 rather than WC 2003

yeah X-Man, i think thats prob the best advice i`ve heard today.
