If an athlete displays great prowess in an exercize, does that mean the exercize can develope the athletic ability the athlete is known for?
Example;) Uk sportstars competition; ex sprinter John Regis performed better in the squat thrusts than the other athletes during that particular t.v episode. Does that mean squat thrusts can develope sprinting speed just becuase the track stars like John Regis and Colin Jackson allways did well in the squat thrust tests compaed to most of the other athletes.
second question; Are squat thrusts good at developing sprint speed? Anybody on the forum do squat thrusts? Daley thompsom used them extensively in his training, but are they more about work capacity than directly improving sprint speed?
I cannot see how squat thrusts would develop sprint speed. Mainly a work capacity exercise.
The answer is no. now when can I expect my cheque?
i answered his question earlier through private message, and he sent me the money western union- sorry.
It always happens to me!
The cheque will be in the post courtesy of “Snail mail” express. Anyway, thanks for clearing it up. I won’t be doing squat thrusts then. I know, the title of the thread was bizarr but who’s going to look into a thread which would have the words “squat thrusts” in the title? They are a boring exercize and I’m glad I don’t have to do them, cheers
A thing to keep in mind is there is no one ‘secret’ exercise that is going to have some magical affect on your training. Every exercise or drill is just a tool. How you employ that tool(or in other words how you set up your exercises and methods in relation to your overall scheme in training) is what matters.
For instance both bodybuilders and Olympic weightlifters squat. But how they employ this ‘tool’(bodybuilders would typically use higher repetitions and typically squat with less frequency, where as olympic weightlifters would generally lift with less repetitions and a very high frequency) is different. Similarly, squat thrusts or just about any other exercise you can think of can be used, but it is only of benefit if it fits in with your overall training scheme. Now having said all that…
Does this response get me some of that 65,000? maybe like a second prize?
