im working with a guy hes only going to run the 55/60m dash is there any need to do 60m spilt runs in spp?
No. Acceleration and Max Velocity would be sufficent. Although 80’s may be benifical and the occasional 120 may be good for relaxation.
Would anyone use sessions such as 3 x 3 x 50 with 1’ Rest and 5-10 between sets with this athlete? I have never been in a situation of training an athlete only for the 55/60. This athlete would usually be using the 55/60 to get ready for the 100 outdoors.
i agree with you quik, i kinda been thinking about this all day and im starting to lean towards something like this for about 8 weeks.
mon: starts, runs up to 70m, plyos and med
tue: tempo and circuits
wed: starts, flys 20’s, med
thur: tempo and circuits
fri: sled work, starts, plyos and med
after watching the vancouver series would there be a need for spilt runs for a pure 60m guy? if so why?
To simulate rounds and or build work capacity.
It is more specific speed endurance to do 3x3x50 R-1’/5-10’ (which is essentially the split runs I am refering to) than do 150’s or 120’s.
damn 1 min rest btw runs - those runs will be slow towards the end.
95% if they have the general fitness they should be able to hit those times. You can take up to 2’ depending on time of year. I was jsut giving an example.
I am also assuming this guy is going to be running the 100 outdoors.
no 100m outdoor.
