Hey sprinters. I’m new to this thing. Lately, I’ve done 6 X 200M in 27s - 28s range. I’m just curious what to expect to race in the 400M. BTW, I’ve also been doing longer stuff like 400M, 500M, etc. Are there basic calculators out there that predict 400M times based on 200M, 300M, etc? I know these are only guidelines.
Pioneer is correct, but Mike, when you think you’re ready to go then race a 400m and get friends to take 100m segmental splits for you. Ideally, you’ll have splits for 100m, 200m and 300m plus the final overall time. You can then work out differentials (first 200m as against return 200m). Then you’ll be able to compare them to race model norms (from biomech studies, which I can help you with - up to a point) and you can see where you need to make improvements in the next phase of your training.
