i got timed in my 30yd sprint for baseball on my 13 year old travel team. I got 5.1, is this bad or good for a 13yr old. I would like to take some time off of that and my 40 for football.
5.1seconds dam thats fast!
Just kidding bro, i don’t have a clue.

Irishdago, I’m really not sure of the standards for 30 yards for your age group. To help anyone else answer, did the timer react to your movements or you to the timer?
if it helps any… my first year of football when i was 12 i ran my hand time 40 yeard dash in 4.8. my 100 time was also 12.2.
now im running hand timed 4.4 and 10.6.
i reacted to the timer
Dear IrishDago (what an odd name. I am German, Russian, and Austrian, so I suppose I’d be the Red Kraut):
For your age group that time is okay I think. I run about a 4.0 from the gun, but I am a fully-grown 28 year old male, though I am not a regular sprinter.
You have a lot of growing left to do, and I imagine you are doing little if any weight-lifting. That is alright at your age. Read this site, and read lots of books. Be as well-informed as you can. Be single-minded and determined. It will set you apart from virtually all of your peers. Stay humble, because God has given you all that you have.
That’s the end of the lecture. Hope you haven’t fallen asleep.
Mikeh, a 4.0 , 40yd dash. Damn.
I don’t think it is that good. 40yds an’t 40meters!
Oh no. I think you misunderstand me. I run about a 4.0 30 yard dash. My 40 is about a 5.0. This of course is a start from the timer shouting “GO.” What my time would be from a “football” first step start I do not know.
I wihs I ran a 4.0 40 yard dash - I’d be much wealthier than I am now.
quickashell you ran a 4.8 at 12 damn you must of been heads and shoulders above your peers. were you in the junior olympics.
yeah wow when i was 13 i ran a 12.4 and never lost the 100. this was in southwestern minnesota, not the capital of sprinting but still, 12.2 at 12 is pretty good.
When I was in 8th grade I ran a 15.3, so if you’re basically untrained at that age I wouldn’t worry about anything (I’m not spectacular now but I think my times are decent for only training for six months).
I used to run against a guy who at age 12 ran the 100m in 11.8! Not surprisingly, it was the national under 13 record. He had a distinct advantage over the other kids, having reached puberty at 9 years old. He reached his maximum height of about 5ft 6 at 13 and never ran faster than 11.3 as a senior.
I’d have to agree with Neospeed. I remember running 14’s when i was 12. I ran 10.9 at 17 and now at 20 i run 10.6. all hand times. I knew a kid that ran 11.4 as a 14 freshman. we all thought he was great. as a senior he ran 11.2. Talent early in your life doesn’t always carry over.
