I’d like to be a fly on the wall when Charlie reads about that. It also goes against everything I’ve seen Clyde Hart say. Amazing improvement for a few days…and then what happens first, the strained hamstring or the overtraining crash?
as stated above constant improvement till about day 6 or 7 then a decline in performance.
Maybe we should look at it as just one gigantic SE2 workout spread out over several days.
Could you show us an example. I remember talking with a kid (a big white guy ) that ran at UMASS and said he would go through the workouts at 34 seconds in practice. He ran 21.03 that year. I remember thinking 34 seconds holding back??? I think they did do something similiar to what I was suggesting 3,2,150. Maybe harder actually.
Please show us a sample workout. Give us the PR followed by the actually split runs they would run. Thinking back my best 100/200m times were when I was doing a lot of strength work (cover your ears Charlie). I am going to train this season with a lot of strength. Get back to what works (even though I’m not sure why). I was hoping to get my 200m back.
Hi Guys,
Yea, I know this workout goes against pretty much everything that today’s coaches preach.
However, it doesn’t go against what a lot of old time athletes trained at to get times around 47s and such.
It is actually probably the simplest possible workout an athlete could do. You want to get fast at a 400m, practice running the 400m…lol.
I’m not saying that I would follow this year round for a schedule…but hell…I haven’t yet tried it!
So, that’s exactly what I’m going to do. Tomorrow I’ll record my entire workout with an explanation and post it on YouTube.
It’s hard for me to explain the exact method I used by typing, so I will just show it. I haven’t done any track work at all for the winter and have been training mostly for jiu-jitsu and gymnastics. I don’t even expect to break 60sec…lol. Especially since I just got back from a wedding tonight and about 4 Amarettos…yum.
But, anywho, I will try to record the 1st and last workout…day 1 and 7 so everyone can get an idea.
