2015 races

Well, that takes us back to conversation we had a time ago.
My question remain the same; who is Steve F?
We have seen James running on number of occasions this and last year, in my opinion he’s been running worst re: technique.

Jogging a legal 19.88 while training through the meet…Runs an easy first 100 (by his standards), then blows by everyone like they don’t even belong there.

Man playing with boys.

I think he is the guy who coached the first ever Brit (and 3rd ever European) to go under 10s in the 100m and under 20s in the 200m. He also is the only British coach in history to coach two sub 10s sprinters. Not sure if there was anyone before him to coach both the 100m and the 200m European champion in the same year either.

Thanks for letting me know. Lol
Working with fastest people in Britain being supported with/by brigade of therapist, physios, biomehanists. Wow
How they are doing after Kevin left?

I believe his major achievements all occured after Kevin Tyler left. He has done exactly what Charlie did, which is to build a strong support team around his athletes to give them the best chance of success. Not sure I understand how this can be construed as demonstrating incompetence.

Incompetence? Hmmm, where that came from?. I don’t care.
I think you are totally confusing two very different situations.
The difference is that the one builded from the scratch achieving highest possible results while other been given the athletes and the resources on the golden tray.
“build the support” lol. which was already in place.

If your comments did not mean to suggest that Steve F is incompetent and has achieved success not because of skill but out of pure luck then I must have misunderstood you. To me, everything you have written about him so far sounds like some sort of personal vendetta against one of the most successful sprints coaches the UK has ever had. If you were actually trying to express your admiration for his competence and achievements (as in “who is this amazing coach who is having so much success?”) then I apologise for misreading your posts.

Luck got nothing to do with it. (that was cheap shot) Unless you are talking about something else.
Sure, achieved a lot. Thumbs up for that.
My opinion is that with the resources and talen available to his disposal would be hard to screw things up being guided by KT. Nevertheless…

Apology accepted, lol.
Btw love your comparison to Charlie.

excellent relaxation.

Technique wise, I think he’s minimized his swing phase more than ever. Sure, he hasn’t popped off anything time-wise like in Lausanne, but I think he can do it once he really goes full burn. Like I said, he may not be as quick or as powerful as ever, but his technique looks as good as I’ve seen it.

Anybody know what’s up with Tyson??

after snitching on jon drummond, he switched coaches. He is now with john smith…Havent seen jon smith athletes do much of anything the last few years.

Yeah… had a few brainfarts there haha

If only Smith would get him the Ralph Mann hookup like he did with Jeter lol

All top USATF coaches work with Mann for a period of time during the year. Tyson has a hard time with biomechanical changes, he is a “slow learner” so to speak. Also, it can’t help that he just changed coaches after 14 years or so with Lance Brauman, not to mention the fact that he’s well into his 30’s.

Maybe John Smith has changed the way he trains his sprinters now. Many of his athletes have had chronic injuries - Dixon, Dix, Crawford, perhaps others? What’s happened to Jeter? Is she injured as well or retired?

Jeter pulled her quad in the final of US trials. The athletes you are listing are all quite advanced in age, so chronic injuries may be a result of not adjusting the training accordingly?

jeter tore her other quad, so she has torn both quads. i tore one quad and immediately became a 11 sec runner once recovered. dix ran fast once under him and got hurt.

11.01 for a woman about to turn 36 ain’t bad. Ryan Bailey also didn’t do well with John Smith. But he has other young athletes such as English Gardner and Remontay McClain.

I was there at Mt. Sac waiting for my race when Jeter blew it out the first time. English Gardner started to go past her, and you could just hear her say “I’m not going to let that college girl beat me…” and BOING. And then she made it worse for herself by trying to come back too soon, and Fraser-Pryce actually helped her off the track in Shanghai that year. So maybe the lesson is to stay within yourself and never really push too hard.

Jeter ran a windy 10.76 in the semis before pulling her quad in the final. She hadn’t been in this territory for a very long time, so the risk of injury was very high. Similar to what happened to Gay in 2008. I’m not sure if the Americans are doing themselves a favour by running their trials in a stadium which often has very strong tailwinds.
