Charlie, thinking back to your comments on Oly WLs periodzation and double vs triple for track athletes, working mainly with team sport athletes (baseball, soccer, football). The obvious need is short accel work up to 40yd/m.
Previous years I have used a long “gpp” period of sled sprints (up to 12 weeks) followed by an almost equal period of sprint work ala S-L.
What are your thoughts on something like this instead?
Block 1 would be 3 weeks resisted sled ala GPP, 3 weeks S-L sprint accel work. (Wts would be higher rep 3x 8-10)
Block 2 would be 2 weeks resisted, 4 weeks sprint (Wts would be 5x5)
Block 3 would be 1 week resisted, 5 weeks sprint. (wts would be 3x3)
Block 4 would be 6 weeks of sprint work (2/1 style). (wts would be 3-4x1-2 reps maintenance).
Using the model previously, results seems to come along later than I have anticipated. Looking to see if there is better way to create a steeper performance curve.
