If you are running under 10.50 seconds I would go with nothign longer than a 10 day taper. With the 14 day taper are you refering to the Russian powerlifters Charlie talks about in Speed Trap? If you are around 11 seconds for the 100m, then go with a 7 day taper. What are you going to do exactly for the taper workout?
The faster the athlete runs the more demand there is on their CNS and body in general. Therefore, the rebound effect takes longer (but is also more pronounced). A high octane car burns fuel a lot faster than my toyota.
Yes, it is mostly the times that determine the level of the athlete.
What would be changed in the CF (Hille) taper would depend on the athlete.
just to clarify ive never heard of a 14 day taper. but was only an option because this race is 14days till my next race.
its now the day after the comp, and my muscles have pulled up ok, but my body is very tired and il be resting today and even tommorrow, and if i do a 10 day taper it means my last flat out session will be on wednesday.
working back from stawell can you post what your taper will be? it will better enable us to post ideas and suggestions to you from what has worked for us with our athletes.
but having just raced so close i would go with 7 days for sure… we normally use 7days if racing or 10 days when we had no racing coming into major meet and it works a treat
i would be following the 10day taper thats outlined in CFTS.
if i was to do a 7 day taper im not sure what i would do, possibly a 70m, 100m , 120m as my last flat out session
i assume by now all your acceleration patterns are in place… so if you not going to do some starts on the 8th , 11th and 13th maybe do these runs from a roll in start from 4 -5 steps… i have used the roll start to keep fresh and my athletes feel its good exercise for self confidence…
once again just speaking what has worked for my squad but maybe stop weights on the 8th aswell…
but it all looks great if you done the work and have yourself a favourable mark i hope you do well…
what events you running in stawell and what ur marks… i will be listening away from here in taiwan on the net…
