(10-)day-taper for 200m or 400m, instead of 100m

hey,

i m having a comp in 200m and 400m in school and must run them instead of 100m.

Now i m thinking about the taper.

Maybe Charlie could post the differences between such a taper an dthe one he tells in CFTS. Would be great!

And maybe others have also ideas.

“I shall laud you Jehova because in a fear-inspiring way I am wonderfully made.
Your works are wonderful,
As my soul is very well aware.”-Psalms 139:14

pjb…

best to read the lactate threshold thread… from pages 35 up in there you have kk’s ideas and suggestions on 400 taper…

I wouldn’t want to do a disservice to Charlie’s taper, but the ideas I’ve fashioned into the 400 taper are based on the great man’s advice. kk

oh i see. I m gonna read it…

What about the 200m?

Exact same taper for 200m as 100m. Just extend the sub max runs every 2 days or so and do them flying…

You could also change the stimulus session if you want (make the distances slightly longer? perhaps 2 x 150) but it worked great for my athletes last year…

i read (i think CFTS) that Charlie did 1 Session with 2 runs of special endurance(max) per week.
And the week before the comp he reduces it to only 1 run per week.

In the taper he is doing 4x30, 60,80,120,150m.
Is the 150m run the single rep of speed endurances or is he doing before the taper begins only one rep per week?

I m asking it, because it would be good to do a 250m special speed endurance run for a 400m comp…

Not sure what you are refering to with regard to the 2 sessions 1 session idea.

The stimulus session for a 400m could be a flat out 300m time trial - see KitKat’s posts.

Charlie said he does 1 session of special endurance in which his athletes perform 2 runs.
Example:

Warm-up
short sprints
150 + 200m with full recovery

Then he said before comps they arent doing 2 runs, just one i.e. 150m.

My question: Is he doing only one run in the taper? Is there a special endurance part in the taper?

Now, i m reading …
