Hey everyone, I got some wicked help here when I screwed up my knee, hoping you guys can help again.
As it stands I have a rotator cuff injury. I havent gotten x-ray/ultrasound’s done yet, so the severity of it is unknown.
Iam currently training like a powerlifter(not one yet ), and I want to know whether I can still squat without causing further injury to my shoulder? I know the actual exercise focus’s on a different area of the body. Im just wondering if stabilizing the bar on my back and gripping it hard, could result in further problems.
thanks
oh, and if anyone has some links to rotator cuff injury information, thats in depth, i’d love to read it…
Most likely it was done in my last bench session(99% sure on this, hurt the next day), possibly from the bench itself or the assistance excercise’s that followed(involving the same push motion). I found it odd that there was zero pain the day of the event, but that may be the case injuries of this nature, I dont know.
Well, this what my doctor assumed it was. He is a general MD however, but he did a couple tests in terms of narrowing down the pain. Like I held out my arms and he pushed down, while I resisted, that was the worst. I mean I can move it around without too much discomfort, but where I really feel it, is in my lateral deltoid. The pain seems centralized down the centre of my shoulder.
Right now if I rub the area im describing, it tingles.
Thats the thing, unfortunatley I cant pin point the injury to any certain moment. Always seems to be the case with me.
I worked out on the friday, saturday morning I noticed the shoulder soreness as I went to work. It sort of unfolded more during the day, shoulder got worse. Was swollen, hurt when I touched it. Oddly enough, I felt sorness in the brachialis area, down the near the elbow, as well as an odd feeling in my pec(all these things on the left side).
The pec thing went away a couple days after, the elbow soreness seems to have gone away since yesterday. However, the shoulder remains the same.
Finally found out what the problem is, not a tear but some damage to the supra infraspinatus. So this pretty much eliminates any overhead pressing for a while, or all pressing I guess. The doctor mentioned something about 10-15%…I cant remember the word, I guess that was a reference to the level of damage.
QUESTION: I was doing some light weight work, 5 lbs. I get this weird feeling like the muscle is asleep or numb. Whats that about?
